Recreation Therapist, The Residence
Monika Grau is a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Member of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario who worked as a recreation therapist at the Homewood Health Centre for more than 24 years. Monika brings her passion for supporting people in their recovery journey to the team at The Residence at Homewood where she uses a client-centred, collaborative approach to treatment that can involve mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy and/or motivational interviewing. Monika has expertise providing specialized eating disorder treatment to men and women with emphasis on developing a healthy relationship to exercise, leisure, balance and themselves.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in recreation and leisure studies, Monika is a frequent conference presenter and guest lecturer as well as a keen participant in research projects designed to advance the field of recreation therapy. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in art therapy and in her free time she can be found tending her bees.
