Dr. Carlos Lalonde

Dr. Carlos Lalonde serves as the Chief of Psychiatry for The Residence and Corporate Services at Homewood Health. As the full-time, in-house Psychiatrist at The Residence, Dr. Lalonde provides leadership to the interdisciplinary team and is responsible for overseeing program development and optimizing clinical strategies and outcomes. He is also involved in the clinical program development for the national network of Homewood Clinics and the upcoming Homewood facility in Victoria, British Columbia, opening in 2018.

Paul Obermeyer

Program Director,
The Residence

Paul Obermeyer, RN has been with Homewood for over five years as the Program Manager for the Emergency Mental Health and Addiction Services and is currently the Program Director for The Residence. In his role as Program Director, Paul provides strategic direction, leadership and program development for The Residence and oversees the interdisciplinary and non-clinical team. Paul also runs all administration aspects of The Residence which includes staffing, operations and service delivery.

Dr. Kerris DelRosario

Psychologist,
The Residence

Dr. DelRosario is a clinical psychologist specializing in both long- and short-term therapy using a variety of modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, psycho-dynamic psychotherapy and emotionally focused therapy. Dr. DelRosario is The Residence’s in-house Psychologist and will be working with all Clients from assessment to aftercare. Her empathic, supportive approach is combined with both symptom-focused and deeper interventions (including those of a psychodynamic and attachment-based nature).

Blakie Sahay

Occupational Therapist, The Residence

Blakie has been an Occupational Therapist working in mental health and addictions for over 12 years and with Homewood Health for over six years. In her role as Occupational Therapist at The Residence, she develops, delivers and evaluates treatment using both individual and group interventions.

Julie Lavender

Recreation Therapist, The Residence

As our in-house Recreation Therapist, Julie Lavender has extensive experience providing clients with a variety of recreation therapies and behavioral activation techniques in order to promote a healthy recovery. Julie is a Registered Professional with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario and prior to this position, Julie worked in the Addiction Medicine Services and Regional Services at Homewood Health.

Sonia Waters

Addictions Counsellor, The Residence

Sonia brings 17 years of experience to her role as Addictions Counsellor at The Residence. She supports clients’ personal recovery by creating and guiding them through a continuum of care that combines program services to meet their specific needs. Sonia uses a variety of approaches and techniques to help people achieve and maintain sobriety while focusing on living their lives today. Sonia is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), an International Certified Alcohol & Drug Counsellor (ICADC), and a Canadian Certified Addiction Counsellor (CCAC).

Michelle is a Registered Occupational Therapist who joined The Residence from the Homewood Health Centre. She brings 13 years of experience in the field of mental health and addiction. Michelle developed strong knowledge and skills in both individual and group work with the Assertive Community Treatment Team, the Comprehensive Psychiatric Care Program, and the Program for Traumatic Stress Recovery.

Edith Townsend

Social Worker, The Residence

Edith has over 17 years of clinical experience and training in the fields of addiction, mental health and trauma. She received bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Criminology at the University of Ottawa in 1999 and a Master of Social Work in Individuals, Families and Groups at Wilfrid Laurier in 2003. Edith’s specialties include compulsive behaviours such as sexual addiction and hyper sexuality, gambling, video gaming and internet use, shopping and shoplifting, and eating behaviours.

Darlington is a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario. He has BSc degrees in Psychology and in Nursing from York University. Darlington comes to The Residence having worked at Homewood Health Centre and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton in a variety of clinical settings, including Emergency Psychiatry Services, Inpatient Acute Psychiatry Services, Inpatient Specialized Psychiatric Services and Concurrent Disorders, where he gained valuable experience and acquired notable strength in nursing knowledge and skills.

Carolyn loves nursing and is enthusiastic about helping people in their recovery journey.

Kayleigh completed her Bachelor of Arts at McMaster University with a Social Psychology focus. She then completed a nursing degree at Mohawk College, with a specialty focus in Aboriginal medicine. Kayleigh has 10 years of mental health experience in both clinical and non-clinical environments. She joined Homewood Health in 2016 on the Eating Disorder unit and is passionate about mental health, connecting with patients, and making a difference in the lives of others.

Loriann has been a nurse for 33 years and has worked at Homewood for 20 years. She brings extensive experience to The Residence. She has worked in Homewood’s Eating Disorder Program, PTSR program, Crisis and Comprehensive Psychiatric Care. Her knowledge background encompasses CBT, DBT, and crisis intervention. Loriann’s focus is to support patients in optimizing their treatment experience at The Residence. She works collaboratively with the treatment team to help patients succeed with their goals.

Pauline joined the Residence Team with over 23 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings. She is a member of the College of Nurses as well as a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario. Pauline’s career has been broad and varied from working in Nunavut to Critical Care but she has always found herself drawn back to working in mental health and addictions due to her passion for helping people live the best lives they can live.

Nicole has been working at the Homewood Health Centre since 2013. She brings four years of experience to The Residence, assisting and supporting those throughout their mental health and addiction recovery. Nicole started her journey at Homewood working in the Program for Older Adults, she later took a position in the Trillium Crisis Unit. Being a motivated individual and never turning down opportunities to learn something new, Nicole has worked in all units in the Homewood Health Centre.

Kim is the Sous Chef at The Residence. She is responsible for menu planning and preparing nutritious meals for clients. Prior to joining The Residence, Kim was a Nutrition Aide with Homewood Health. Working now with The Residence Executive Chef, Kim maintains a high level of service and commitment to creating healthy, flavourful dishes.

Catherine brings 11 years of professional housekeeping experience from the Homewood Health Centre. She works closely with residents and management to ensure an orderly and peaceful home-like environment. Catherine’s attention to detail is evident and both clients and staff appreciate her “white glove service” attitude.

Darlene Walton

Admissions Consultant, The Residence

Darlene joined the team at Homewood in the fall of 1978 and worked for 11 years as an RPN. Through various additional roles, including finance, admissions, and sales, Darlene has a gained a tremendous understanding of patient needs in the recovery process.
